Wow, I can't even imagine what it would be like to have git be your first exposure to version control. Kids these days. Just be sure and point out to these version control initiates that even though git concepts like commits and diffs and branches and merges are found to some degree in every version control tool they'll likely come across, the index is truly unique (AKA, weird).
