Thanks for your help everyone. The OIT guys looked into it a little more and found that the backup NIC for my server was configured for the wrong VLAN, so they're going to reconfigure it for me and then we'll try again. I hope that solves the problem. Thanks for the insights into troubleshooting the problem. I hope it will help me if I run into problems in the future.
