I know what I need it to do: web server, mail server, phone server,
music server, file server, dns server, router/firewall.  But I'm not
sure what else I might try to do with it in the future...

My primary goals are Linux compatibility so I don't have any headaches
there, and durability so I can go another 10 years before replacing it.
CPU speed isn't critical; anything I get will scream compared to what I
have now.  I/O is probably the main thing.
