It is a hidden device on my pc called BEEP. Device mgr has a view to show hidden devices and sure enough the beep device is enabled. There was no way for me to control its volume or stop the loud beeps until I disabled the device in device manager. Its been a couple of years and I have yet to have any related issues with the BEEP device disabled.
