UWIN has been in maintenance mode for the last two or three years.
However, since UWIN is now being used with critical AT&T products,
we have started an effort to update UWIN in a number of critical
areas. We plan to build a version 5 of UWIN. Here are our goals:

1. Fix bugs from release 4.
2. Eliminate dependence on specific Visual C/C++ versions.
3. Improve logging and maintence capabilities.
4. Add more packages.
5. Better support for Vista.
6. Get it working on Windows V7.
7. Port it to 64 bit windows, first as 32 bit, then 64 bit.

As we progress in this effort, we will fequently post releases to the
UWIN beta site, http://www.research.att.com/sw/download/beta/.
There is no guarantee that each of these updates will be improvements
on earlier postings, so you can try them at your peril. You can
report any problems you find to the uwin-developers group.
