TC, I am e-mailing you because you seem to know your shit about v-max's.
Well I put a new battery in it and I thought that was it but no dice....I
have tried everything else you recommended as well. But I noticed you and
some of the fellas have been discussing a extra ground wire on the
regulator/rectifier??? I have an 85 is this something I need to look into??

The mechanic that has been helping me out is scratching his head but
he said we might need to try another stator because the one we put on was
reconditioned??? I don't know... So it has a new regulator, stator, battery,
and all grounds have been checked...any other suggestions??? Thanks for the
help.
I was riding the other night and it was charging full because the
headlight was super-bright but some where between 3 and 4 grand the
headlight dims greatly and you tell it isn't charging anymore like it
should. On short rides it's no problem but after about 100 miles it either
turns over really slow and starts or it will either just not start.
We have put a meter on it and when it's charging it's at 14 but when it's
doesn't charge like it should i am down to 9 or so. And after a lengthy
ride it isn't charging enough to turn that big ol' motor over...Sorry to
bug you and I would appreciate any help....Thanks TC..........Duke
