You were right on target!! I pulled the final drive off and low and behold.
The U-JOINT was broken. What a site to see the u-joint just about to completly
come apart. There was metal all over the inside of the drive shaft cover/swing
arm. Thanks for your GREAT advise. AT 53,000 miles something had to wear
out.
