When I was choosing a seat I got John Furbur to do one for me and I also got
one from Sargents.
John's seat is great for sitting on hour after hour, but the more angled legs
played major havoc with my upper pelvis to leg bone joint. I couldn't be in
that position for more than an hour without a break. The disappointing thing
was that the numb bum was totally gone even though you feel the bumps more,
but me personally having that pelvis problem stopped me from using the seat
for long distances.
The problem for me was that it was lowered too much, although I know many
other owners don't have my problem and get full benefit from John's great
seat.
The Sargent on the other hand, was made about 1.5" lower not 2.5-3" like
John's. I asked them to make it as flat as possible without lowering it too
much. They do great work with second to none finish but Furbur's seat goes a
lot further without numb bum for me.
I hassled John about it when he was over here and he said he is now doing a
thicker version so you are not as low as his original design. I'm sending mine
back for him to re do it.
If it is as good as the original in terms of comfort over endurance distance
riding without squashing my legs on such a tight angle, it will be the best
seat you can get, particularly for the money.
Remember these are my personal preferences and problems so if I was you being
right there in Denver, go down there and ask John to let you try one. What
have you got to lose, he'll give you a refund if you don't like it, then call
Sargents.
