Rodney, Thanks for the reply. The replacement counter (and properties) is identical to the original counter except for the layer images and they are still the same pixel and file size. Same number of facings and same rotate commands. Don't know why it doesn't work. However, Brent offered a work-around using two layer properties as in VSQL and that works very well. If I get time I might mess around with the "replace with" trait and see if I can figure out what I'm doing wrong, but as I said, I'm completely happy with the work-around that Brent suggested. Any suggestions? VASSAL tries to match the state of all traits in the replacement counter, but only if the traits are configured with the same properties as in the original piece.
