I *believe* that a bug fix is in the works, but in the meantime you can 
download version 2.8 from here (after removing the current version, or install 
to a new location):

After it creates a shortcut on your desktop, go to the properties for that 
shortcut and look for the "-online" in there and change it to "-offline" (no 
quotes).  It should then not update when you launch from that shortcut.
