Hi All,
I'm hoping a kind Mac user will take pity on my plight and help me figure
out why I can't
update from vassal 2.9.8 to 2.9.9. I'm running an iMac (2.16 GHz Intel Core 2
Duo) with
OS X version 10.4.8.

When I try to launch from the vassalengine.org website (using Safari
2.0.4), which
indicates that it will automatically update the engine, it locks at 80%
download - after
restarting, etc. it never gets past this point.

When I manually download the VASSAL OS X 2.9.9.dmg file it SHOWS that it's
version
2.9.9 in the info file. However, after I copy the icon into my applications
folder and launch
from there, the start-up window still shows that I'm running 2.9.8 If I launch
directly from
the window that opens when I double-click on the .dmg file it also still shows
2.9.8 in the
start up window. I know it's not updating because I get version mis-match
errors when
loading modules or saved game files which were created by others using 2.9.9.

I've tried throwing away the basic preferences file (but not the
Preferences 2 & 3 folders)
without success.

Help! :)

thanks,
-Nadir
