I think your has this problem much more than others. Part of that is the
size, since you only need one jerk to come in and ruin things.
The current server's room-locking mechanism is imperfect, and there's no
authentication, as you point out. This is one of the main motivations to
host the server behind a Jabber interface, where those safeguards are
mature. I think this will be a reality by summer.
