Is VASSAL slower to restore than other apps when you do this?

What's happening when you minimize VASSAL and then run other apps is that
the memory VASSAL was using is being paged out to virtual memory, i.e.,
it's being moved from RAM to disk. When you restore VASSAL, at minimum
what was written to disk has to be read back into RAM. If you haven't
closed those other apps, then your computer might also need to move the
memory they're using from RAM to disk to make room first. With only 512MB
RAM, you're probably forcing all of the memory VASSAL is using out of
RAM when you run something else.
