As someone that is still subconsciously pissed that .jpeg got slowly renamed to .jpg back in the 90s as Windows people started getting on the internet, I wholeheartedly agree :) Additionally, the only people that see extensions under Windows are those that haven't changed their explorer's defaults. If they are changing their defaults, they had better be savvy enough to not have their brains shut down when they see 4 characters rather than 3.
