did some impl on windows guest and windows host, system tray icon works well,

Since requirement on host is very minimal, Qt supports SysTray, so should be
easy to implement it on Linux host.

The guest requirement is higher, need to find out how to hook and intercept
those system tray events. so will take some efforts on Linux guests, vbox team
can explore that.

Will be great !

Having system tray icon integration on Linux host is gonna be a PITA.
KDE and GNOME have different standards for alpha-channel icons for system tray.

What about standard menu integration?
VMlite has only specific guest applications integrated on host's menu,
not whole guest's menu.
VMware in their "Unity mode" have done a custom menu.
