Hi everyone,

As you may know (or not! :), Fernando and I are the administrators of
this list. Up until recently, only e-mail authentication was required
to subscribe to the list: send a subscription request and a daemon
would request for authentication. You'd respond and you are on the list.

Due to the recent abuse against one of our members, we've enabled a
stricter policy: the administrators of the list need to vet all new
memberships.

As a rule, unless the subscriber can convince me, I'm not going to
allow anonymous domains. This is a technical board so I don't see the
reason to need to be anonymous.

I'm seeking ideas on the best, light-weight method to authenticate
people. I'd like to balance privacy with confirming people. :) Oh,
the age old problem ...

Thoughts?

Cheers,
