There are a few options to try: You might try again (with fresh copies), but copy the entire folder structure of the original VM, and use menu : Machine > Add > (navigate to the VBOX file and open it). (This will only work if you have backups of the entire VM. If you only have the VDI files, it won't work.) OR, if you still have the original VMs runnable on a host, use File > Export Appliance... on the original host and then File > Import Appliance on the new host. OR, if you still have the original VMs runnable on a host, delete all of the snapshots, and then try again with a copy of the VDI file. OR, if you can identify the LAST most recent snapshot differencing VDI file (it should have the most recent date), then attach THAT VDI file to the new VM, AND make sure you "flatten" the resulting VDI as soon as possible.
