Apparently this latest version is sequence dependent. In past I downloaded all 
rpms from VBox web site, then installed the extpack,first.

Now it appears I needed to download the VirtualBox rpm, install it and then 
download the extpack and install it. This worked and I now have a working 
virtualbox(4.2.4) on openSUSE 12.2. Guest is Win XP.
