Dave, whilst I don't really have an answer for you - I've experienced similar problems. 2 or 3 years ago, I bought a Garmin GPS (Aussie Edition) and updated the firmware, added maps etc through an XP guest in VirtualBox running under Fedora - everything just worked. 3 months ago I bought a new Garmin GPS (Aussie Edition), connected it up to a Win 7 guest in VB under Fedora and performed a firmware update. Despite the process saying it completed successfully it totally bricked the device. I returned it to JB Hi-Fi and got a replacement. This time I did the firmware update on a physical Win 7 box and it worked without issue. It could just be a coincidence but it makes me nervous to try it with the VM again. -- Ian Chapman. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ LogMeIn Rescue: Anywhere, Anytime Remote support for IT.
