I think the OP only wants the manufacturer prefix to be the same: in 
that case can't you let the program generate the MAC address for you and 
just paste the first bit from your host MAC address over the generated 
MAC? I guess there could be collisions with other VMs but if the random 
generator is good they should be rare...
