You can terminate this on Linux hosts by entering the command "VirtualBox shutdown" on the command line. As of VirtualBox 1.4.0, due soon (but no fixed date), this will be done automatically when the last visible instance terminated. You can also force the kernel module to be reloaded using "/etc/init.d/vboxdrv restart".
