I checked my red interface on my firewall and its at 1500.   Also I
shutdown my vbox XP and brought up my vmware XP and don't get that
issue with the vmware.  The only difference being that I rdp to the vm
directly on vmware, unlike the vbox which is to the host itself as the
vm is nat'ed.

I did try a file xfer (100mb)  to be sure and got speed I would expect
on my DSL line (768k up) with a sftp transfer.
