Sounds like a good idea. Adobe adopted a similar aproach with its
Flash plug-in for linux. You can download binaries manually from
Adobe's web page or just download a file that adds the adobe server as
a repo. If you choose the latter approach your system automatically
knows and downloads new releases using your distro's package
management program.
