Folks,
Been following the threads about 2.2.0 problems, but mine seems a bit different.
Running Debian squeeze guests on a Debian squeeze host.
Up through 2.1.0, I could rely on the following line working in my
/etc/rc.local script:
su - vbox -c "VBoxVRDP -s Ubiquity" &
The above line works perfectly from a command line, and worked
perfectly on all vbox versions prior to 2.2.0. Trouble is, now it
never works correctly during bootup. That is, most times, I see some
error message on the console about an errant child process.
Occasionally, the guest appears to be running, but it can't be
accessed in any way shape or form. That is, I see a process in the
process table referencing Ubiquity, but neither rdesktop nor ssh can
access this guest.
I'm assuming there's some environment variable vbox needs that it's
not getting starting it up via the boot scripts, but I just can't
figure out what it is.
Any takers? (RTFM will do if you tell me what FM to R) ;-)
TIA,
David A. Bandel
