Are there any plans to implement the SATA trim command so the guest OS can notify the host that a particular block is no longer used? This would allow the hypervisor to de-allocate the blocks used in the sparse image file and conserve host disk space. This would allow disk space to be more over-committed.
We'll probably implement that eventually. However as the guest OSes which know about that command have a very small user base right now this isn't high priority. It's just quite a bot of work, nothing more. Contributions accepted.
