Greetings --
My host system is Kubuntu Jaunty.
My guest system is Windows XP Pro (here called "WinXPP").
My VirtualBox is version 2.1.4_OSE
Until a few days ago, everything was working amazingly well. I do
not
recall having done anything (even by accident!) to mess things up,
but
SOMETHING has happened. Every time I attempt to start my one and
only
guest system, I get the following information.
=========================
VirtualBox - Error
Failed to start the virtual machine WinXPP.
PIIX3 cannot attach drive to the Secondary Master
(VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND).
It looks like you have lost file where guest filesystem is kept.
Go to settings -> harddisk and see if the file is present .

Thank you, Maciek! I have followed your direction, and I see (under
"Slot") "IDE Primary Master" and (under "Hard Disk") "WinXPP.vdi
(Normal, 10,00 GB". I do NOT see any "Secondary Master", and have no
idea of what I should do about that. In fact, I do not recall even
establishing any secondary drive to begin with! What should I do now?
I don't know why it complain about "Secondary Master" too . If this
system contain any important data then make backup of
~/.VirtualBox directory
$ tar -czf ~/vbox_backup.tgz ~/.VirtualBox
And next try create new virtual machine ,but when wizard asks about
creating harddisk - choose "use existing harddisk"
,and in machine settings set the same parameters as in old machine
(general -> advanced -> extended features , IDE controller type )
because Windows is sensitive at that point :-)
Hope it helps.
But if vdi file is corrupted it will not be easy task to make it work
again :-(
