I am NO "expert" -- and perhaps I am unable to read your intentions in the words you have supplied(!). I observe your statement that (4) "I removed the netinst CD ..." and (5) After login i run "cd cdrom ...". If you actually removed the CD, then what do you really expect "ls -l" to be reading? I am almost certain that I am missing something here, but, for whatever it might be worth, that is my current view! HTH.
