Hi,

Im pretty new to virtual box and I would like to be able to configure the host and hosted OSs so that from the host OS (Vista) I can connect to a Windows SMB/CIFS server (Samba for example) on the host. This seems to be quite tricky due to the fact I have to address the host OS as "localhost" and Vista is already listening on some key ports which so far as I know will prevent me doing what I want to do. I did work out how to port forward, ie I can ssh to my server from the Vista host but this isnt gona cut it for SMB as the port numbers arent easily customisable, ie I cant set Netbios etc to whatever I want and then expect Vista to be able to see any file shares....

I guess anyone that is gona be able to help will understand very well what I mean, can anyone provide any advise or point me at any useful documentation??

thanks in advance, Andy.
