We can simply add the required plugin versions to the POM as we did
with turbine. I am lobbying for a newer maven 1.0 release, but I don't
think it will happen. Brett said that 1.1 is "pretty close" so I
wouldn't see a big problem here.
I will try to summarize which plugin updates are needed for maven 1.0
and propose a patch.
