Whoa, it works!

By default it seems be really transparent which means it's quite slow;
according to vsar the move speed was around 70MB/s, about one third of
the maximum. This is no problem though; I can leave the data moving for
a few days if necessary. It's more important to have the data online
24/7.

I'll definitely use the 'vxassist move + vxresize' method instead.

Thanks, man!

advantages:
* totally online and transparent
* requires not scheduled downtime
* if filesystem is exported, results in no stale file handles/servers
* no extra steps to make a new filesystem and copy the data and get all
the arguments right for preserving links, mod times, etc.
* if using ufs, no need to wait for filesystem creation (in vxfs this is

a non-issue, of course)
* you can throttle the speed of the copy if you want to to preserve
interactive usage (or you can have it go at full tilt - your option)

basically, just use vxassist move followed by vxresize.

disadvantages:
* none that I can think of. :)
