Now, my question:
do you plan to do the transition toward numpy, since Numeric and
numarray should no longer be developped any more (but for very critical
bugs)?
I think this should be relatively painless. It's certainly something that I
could have a go at at some point.
Hopefully this should be pretty easy. The main issue is the contour
support, which shouldn't be hard as it is taken from matplotlib which has
moved to NumPy. Also PyFITS is only has beta NumPy support so far, but
that's probably enough.
The same question about Qt4, since PyQt4 is now available and has the
great advantage of been dual licensed on every platform, including
Micosoft's one (I may have to develop a software to be used mainly on
Windows in wich I could include Veusz, and I will probably use PyQt4. Note
that if this project is confirmed, I may spend
a small amount of time helping in Veusz code).
This I think is harder although Jeremy will have to comment further.
This is probably harder, as the Qt4 interface is pretty different to Qt3,
and PyQt4 doesn't support the Qt 3 support library. Quite a bit of the UI
code will need some effort to get working under Qt4.
I need to start playing with PyQt4/Qt4 to get an idea about how long this
will take.
Unfortunately Qt4/PyQt4 support in Linux distributions is limited at the
moment. I do however see that Fedora is virtually there.
I do absolutely intend to change to Qt4, but I'm not sure on the timescale
at this time.
