Jimmy, I may have posted this same reply in 2002, but will do it again anyway. 
There are still many versions of the pipe and tweed crowd out there, that 
perpetuate that image. the same folks that claim "The Movie" ruined the sport. 
The best way to overcome that perception is do what you do. Teach those that 
are interested and make the sport accessable. We have an FFF club here that has 
120 members and find that folks with that teed and pipe mentality don't stay 
around long. Most of our members are former C&W folks. We mainly fish for 
warmwater species since we have to travel at least 4 hours to fish trout 
streams. We have a bunch of guys that would rather fish for carp, gar and drum 
than trout. To me it's just the way I prefer to fish. That said, I still do a 
big bait outing every year with my brother in law for big channel cats. Do what 
brings you enjoyment.
