Allan,
They were not breaking in the vise. The barbs were flattened before the flies 
were tyed. The hooks broke while catching fish. It was discouraging to cast for 
a half hour and missing fish before finding the point of the hook was gone.
When you come over for Sowbug, I will show you the draw I have the flies in 
with broken hooks.

Interesting.  Maybe I'm not clamping my hooks tightly enough in the vise, 
because I can't ever remember breaking  a hook in the vise, other some 28's.  
And nearly all of my hooks are Mustad.
