It's in the pinch at the tie in point, it has to be firm, no twists or curves and above the hook. When I first started my apprenticeship my married wings divorced because i had the lower edge of the married wing on the side of the hook similar to a feather wing streamer.

The other thing that can cause lot's of trouble is when you cut the slips, the very edge folds up or down and then the Velcro hooks are in the wrong position and they won't marry.

And practice, one of the best DVD's is Stack Scoville's or come see him at the Sowbug!
