Neville, Fifth rod - I try to keep a beginner's mind - wanting to learn more :)
Didn't use color preserver, I prefer the more translucent look without color preserver. This rod was purchased at our annual fly fishing club auction last year. It was originally purchased in the 80's and sat in the closet for 30 years. Also in the box were two bottles of Gudebrod Glass Rod Varnish and I opened one of these to finish the wraps on this rod. The Varnish had a date stamped on it of 9-85, but it seemed to go on ok and dry properly.
