Subject: Trip Report
Hi All, I put together a photo account of my BC Steelhead trip
with Alan Grombacher & Michael Dell. We didn't get into any Steelhead but
the tiddlers were plenty game and great fun. The pictures don't show the
misery we endured. Snowed on, rain on, ice in the guides and the wind blowing
so hard we could hardly stand up against it. Never mind the frost making the
rocks fall off the cliffs at river side or the snow slides rumbling from down
the valley and us suffering sore necks trying to see where it was happening.
Those were the good days! :O) Well we did suffer with four days of very
inclement weather but then the sun came out for the rest of the week.
I've heard it said that when you've heard a timber wolf howl in the wild
that you've heard what it is to be wild or the "call of the wild." After this
trip I will add the call of the Bittern. We spent an entire day listening to
them fill a narrow valley with their echoing calling. As haunting as a wolfs
song but hypnotic from the constant thrumming of its trance inducing
qualities.
A beautiful place, where ya know "the air hasn't been breathed before."
