Sometimes - especially when the water is not so clear, I like to use similar bugs. I guess that the fish hear the 'plopp' when the bug falls into the water and get notice of it this way. Probably one of the reasons why Dave's hopper, Irresistable and similar flies are sometimes so catchy.
