[VFB] New Redington 3 wt

I have put in an order for a 3 wt rod outfit from Redington as an early Christmas present. It is the RS2 outfit. The only stipulation the wife had was that it was to be wrapped and put up until then.
       What are the limitations as far as flies go for a 3 wt? I fish small streams for trout and brim. I also fish lakes and ponds for brim and crappie. Any favorite light rod flies for said species?
       I want to go ahead and get a box or two stocked with flies for this spring to tackle trout, brim, and crappie. I may buy some flies and tie the others. We will have to wait and see I guess.
