You are so right DonO. I believe the question was being asked in order to use up his existing hackles. It is nice to be able to get new stuff, but what do you do with the 10 you already have? Most of my necks are Metz gr. 1 & 2 and I do have one of those genetic Hoffman necks with feathers about 10" long and the same size all the way down to the end. I hardly ever tie any dry flies, prefering to offer fish, food under the surface. Sure I like the thrill of a top water bite, but that only happens here at the changing light conditions, both AM & PM. The rest of the time I fish subsurface, so I usually tie nymphs and wet flies. I'm sure when I get rid of my dry fly necks, I'll start to tie dry flies and then wish I had all those necks back again.
