Do two or three soft loops before you pinch and pull, so the feathers gather, rather than spin.

Subject: [VFB] Downwing question

I have a question about downwings for wetflies.

I've been tying some wetflies for cutthroat trout-- but I'm having a problem getting mine to look symetrical -- I do a soft loop -- but they still like to sit more on one side of the hook than the other.

Any suggestions how to improve on this.

I'm using turkey feathers to make the wings -- does anyone treat their feathers with flexament or something similar before cutting them into wings -- would this help?

Thanks for your help.
