Back about ought '87, I was program chairman for our fishing club. Somehow, I got connected with Dave Whitlock and we arranged for him to come to town.
I picked him up at the airport and got him and Joan settled into their room. Then I brought them out to the house to pick up my wife for us to go out to eat. While we were waiting for my wife to finish getting ready, we sat down at our kitchen table. I had his Aquatic Trout Foods book and asked if he'd mind autographing it. I was amazed to find that he often autographs things with a beautiful trout scene. I was flabbergasted to find a full-page scene which he drew in less than 5 minutes. What an artist! Not only that, I was so amazed to find out how humble and pleasant he is. He's just a really nice gentleman. I'm sure that there a few thousand Whitlock stories all very similar.
