MARK,

I agree with you on Flyfisherman....I do not fish in most of the places they run articles on. when they do any article on California, it tends to deal with the Well known waters: Upper & Lower Sacremento river, Pit River,Fall River, Hat Creek, Hot Creek, ETC... I will occasionally buy a copy in the stores...IF there's an article of interest to me.

As to the Saltwater Flyfishing oriented Magazines...it's the same game; very few if anything about California Saltwater flyfishing. It's fine for you VFBers on the East & Gulf Coasts, but they don't do diddle for me.

I was about to re-subscribe to Fly Tyer, but after reading that article about the Peabody fly that Capt. Roger guy Claims to have invented...(It's a Bloody Peacock & Brown Soft hackle!!!!!!!!) I have decided no way. I will pick up copies when they have something that interests me.  as I've stated before, Fly Tyer was the best, in MY oppinion, When Dick Surrette was the editor.  I wish Frank Amato Publications never combined Fly Tying with Flyfishing magazine to producer the Quarterly magazine they now put out. While I do like Flyfishing & Fly Tying Quarterly magazine( i do subscribe to it) I miss Fly Tying magazine...in My oppinion it blew Fly Tyer out of the water for top notch articles....now we are stuck with Fly Tyer & whatever the current editor decides to put in an issue...

As to what Magazines i subscribe to: California Flyfisher, the finest example of a very localized flyfishing magazine I've ever seen...they just celebrated 10 years of publication. I also subscribe to Southwest Flyfishing, and when i remember to re-subscribe I get SW flyfishing's "sister" magazine-Northwest Flyfishing. JIMMY & JIMI Should both check out Southwest flyfishing, every issue seems to cover both of your fine States... I also have a subscription to Art Of Angling...a work of art every issue!!!!

Please remember, my oppinions are just that, my oppinions. Alot of you folks on this list Love Fly Tyer & you certianly seem to learn from each issue...thats what it's all about... And Jerry & Mark, those Saltwater Flyfishing Mags you enjoy are perfect for you... My views are different & just that...My Views/Oppinions...

        DEAN....

I agree with Jerry's choices for saltwater FF magazines.  Dropped Flyfisherman two years ago since i decided it really didn't apply to the type of fishing I was doing (warmwater and saltwater articles were few and very far between).
