You most certianly can catch Cabezon on the Fly.. but you had better be fishing at least a 9 wt. to do it off the Jetties... John Shewey & Ken Hanley both have written about fishing the Jetties for them at night(when it is the easiest to catch them)... I've caught afew in my day...but the Closures on Rockfish/Lingcod & Cabezon
DEAN...
Having had a few salmon trips turn into rock and lingcod trips, I was surprised to read about the closure for
these fish. I was fishing in the pacicfic northwest and canada, & will tell you that throwing a 450 or even 550 on a
10 wt with clousers and probing the depths around rocks for ling was thrilling. And the battle with a decent size ling
was like grouper fishing here in Florida. What a great game fish on a fly rod.
Where are the closures ?? just Cal ?? Seasonal ??
