I did some easter egg dying on marabou and hackle the other day. It took about 20 minutes for all of the dye to be taken up. I heated the solution and the feathers in the microwave oven every five minutes or so, just for 30 seconds - kept the water hot. In our weather, it's taken a couple of days to dry out.
