KEN,
Not a bad idea....I'd say the rules should be something like this:
All flies tyed for the Swap would have to be any pattern that is featured in the lovely paintings by Dr. Edgar Burke for the colour plates included in TROUT. This will, of course, mean that this swap would probally turn out to be a Wetfly swap, as most of the Colour Plates are of Classic Wetfly patterns. One could also locate the dressings & actual samples of the Wetflies in FORGOTTEN FLIES. The chapter on Bergman is a Must read for anyone who enjoys TROUT. This is the first time all the patterns from the Burke Colour Plates were featured as actual flies... a first.
Limit the swap to about 10 tyers tops...wetflies can be abit time consuming with the Duck wings & such.
I'm not volunteering to be Swap Meister & at present I can't even be a swapper, but it would be a pretty sweet Swap......

A good theme for a swap?----- Original Message -----From: Dean EndressSent: Tuesday, July 15, 2003 6:53 AMSubject: [VFB] Ray Bergman's Birthday.....Today, July 15th, is RAY BERGMAN'S Birthday.
Most of you know of Ray Bergman from his "TROUT" book which has been in print off & on since the late 30's. it is still a viable referance book & one I'd recommend all serious Flyfishers to read at least once in their life.
Ray was Born JOHN RAYMOND BERGMAN July 15th, 1891
If he were still alive today he'd be 112 years old, and probally still trying to catch trout on the fly.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY RAY...& Thanks for all the help.......
