I've been fishing a salt water area off long island sound all summer. The area is refered to locally as the "creek". Its mostly muddy flats at low tide and pretty merky at high tide. I've had the most success at nite with dark flies, usually a black and red clouser w/ a little dark flash. The stripers will consistantly hit the dark flies and very occasionally go for a light pattern. The blues, if the are on a rampage, will strike at almost anything. I would expect the same sort of thing to occure in fresh water. "All flies are grey in the dark" . ..Just my recent experience.
