Martin,
I still have a round of bees wax I had from back in the 40's. I use it to wax the threads for the mayfly. I just don't use wax for dubbing. I know what you mean about getting the dirty yellow color with wax, it will do that.
We should have our new dock in a couple of weeks. It is being built now. They will float it up the river from Wildcat access to my house.
They have just started slacking off on running water. They are running about two units in the morning and increasing it to 8 units after noon. Hope it will be over by fall. I have been fishing Crooked Creek for warm water fish. Lots of fish caught but not all big ones.
Hope you can get back out this way and spend some time with us. We really enjoyed having you here.
Tony

Hi Tony!
I've never used Overton's myself but I know its reputation, so when it hits
the market I'll get me some. If only to see what I've missed all these years
LOL.
Wax... I've still got a piece fo cobbler's wax. I use it to run it along one
side of a flattened 3/0 yellow thread to produce a great looking dirty
yellow/olive body.
How's the dock?
Martin

Martin,
Like you , I rarely use wax, I teach my students to dub without it. I do
use it for seal and a couple of synthetic materials if I have to. I have
a tube of Wonder wax that I bought 15 years ago. It sits on my tying
bench and I could of sold it a number of times. I was offered 15.00 for
it at a show I was doing. I have compared the Wonder wax with several
other waxes that were given to me as samples, the Wonder Wax always came
out on top. The toilet ring wax is real close but I don't think it is
the same, I think it is better than some of the waxes on the market now.
Even though I don't use wax very much myself, I do a lot of shows and
try the products that are given to me for testing. I also talk to a lot
of other tyers and when it comes to wax and the long time tyers will
most times refer to Wonder Wax.

Hi Mike,
I'll give you a digest version. Years ago many tiers used Overton's

Wonder

Wax, and liked it. One day however news spread that this wax was the same
stuff used in toilet rings, and people started using that instead.

Overton's

wax disappeared from the market. In this thread Steve said that Overton's
was different stuff than the toilet ring wax, that Overton would

reintroduce

his wax, and Steve gave us Overton's telephone number.

Steve,
I called Glenn today to get his permission to release his
phone number and e-mail address and he said it was ok.

So you can call or write him and get all the info right from
the horse's mouth.

He hopes to get the wax back on the market in about a
year.
