Dip your rod in the water when it ices up. I used to do this when fishing for Sauger on the Tennessee River. Dip often and it works, doesn't bother line either.

Hi All,

Any advice on keeping ice off your guides when fishing
in cold weather?

This past weekend I got to four casts before I had
mini-snowballs at my guides.

I've heard pam or vasoline works on guides but I think
the main culprit is the thick fly line. I'm wondering
what can be put on the line without degrading it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
