Personally, I think the underneath silhouette is what counts (AND the tail...of course, the have lemmings in Alaska, don't they? And they're tail-less. So.....
My "fishable" mice are very rough - no eyes, scraggly cut up front gives whiskers. And a little strip of Chamois makes a nice durable tail. Oh. And my "fishable" mice are NOT for display.

I need some ideas for mouse patterns. I'm doing a 7 day float in Alaska in August and one of the recommended patterns is a mouse. I've never tied mouse patterns before and any help would be appreciated. I'm not looking for anything like Don O's "special mouse" patterns, just something that'll work that I don't need to spend hours at the vise tying.
Some other questions: Are tails, ears and whiskers really necessary? I would think tails would be but if the fish is keying on the general size and shape do they really see the ears? How about eyes? What sizes?
