I know when I crappie fish, with a Marabou tailed Jig I sometimes have to "shorten their lunch" as I call it when they bite but don't hook. I learned that from the 7 time Bama state Crappie champ... Take the nail clippers and 1/8" at a time, clip the marabou tail till they take it, and it is amazing that it DOES work..
